TS EN 61000 Series EMC Standards

The TS EN 61000 Series is a comprehensive set of international standards for electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) testing. The series aims to verify the resilience of electrical and electronic equipment to electromagnetic disturbances and to limit the level of electromagnetic noise emitted into the environment. It provides test methods that define how disturbances are measured and how acceptable limits are established.

Purpose Objective

  • To prevent equipment from being adversely affected by electromagnetic fields.
  • To define limits for electromagnetic noise emitted by equipment into its environment.

Test Scope Coverage

  • Assessment of electromagnetic compatibility for electrical and electronic equipment.
  • Measurement of disturbances and definition of acceptable limits.

Technical Implementation Process

  • Testing equipment immunity against external electromagnetic disturbances.
  • Evaluating the impact of internal electromagnetic disturbances on functional performance.

Application Areas Use

  • Industrial, commercial, and consumer electronics products.
  • National and international EMC conformity assessment processes.

The TS EN 61000 Series supports safe and compatible operation of equipment by ensuring electromagnetic disturbances are controlled. It serves as a fundamental reference for defining and fulfilling electromagnetic compatibility requirements.

Standard Code Description
TS EN 61000-4-11 This standard specifies immunity test methods for electrical and electronic equipment connected to low-voltage power supply networks, with regard to voltage dips, short interruptions, and voltage variations. It applies to equipment with a rated current not exceeding 16 A per phase.
TS EN 61000-4-8 This standard defines the immunity characteristics of equipment against power-frequency magnetic field disturbances. It is applicable to equipment used in residential, commercial, and industrial environments.
TS EN 61000-4-6 This standard covers the immunity requirements of electrical and electronic equipment against electromagnetic disturbances induced by RF transmitters in the frequency range from 9 kHz to 80 MHz. Equipment without conducting cables is excluded from the scope.
TS EN 61000-4-5 This standard specifies immunity test methods and test levels for voltage surges caused by switching operations and lightning transient phenomena.
TS EN 61000-4-4 This standard defines the immunity characteristics of equipment against electrical fast transient and burst disturbances, including the applicable test methods and test levels.
TS EN 61000-4-3 This standard covers the immunity of equipment against radiated electromagnetic energy.
TS EN 61000-4-2 This standard specifies the immunity requirements of electrical and electronic equipment against electrostatic discharge (ESD). Test levels and test procedures are defined based on environmental and installation conditions.
