STEST is accredited by the Turkish Accreditation Institution (TURKAK) and carries out its testing and verification activities in an independent, competent, and impartial manner in compliance with national and international standards.
Icing and Freezing Rain Test
The Icing and Freezing Rain Test is a critical environmental test method defined in the MIL-STD-810 standard, used to evaluate the resistance
of military and industrial products to icing, snow, and freezing conditions. This test assesses whether equipment maintains its functionality,
reliability, and mechanical integrity under freezing rain exposure and ice accretion loads.
During the test, the product is subjected to icing and frost effects under controlled climatic conditions. The objective is to determine whether
ice formation on the material surface may cause performance degradation in electronic systems, blockage in mechanical components, or structural
damage. The test is particularly critical for military platforms, aerospace systems, ground vehicles, communication equipment, and outdoor
applications.
The Icing and Freezing Rain Test is performed to ensure that products can operate safely and reliably in extremely cold and icy environmental
conditions. Accordingly, systems are verified in terms of operational continuity, safety, and durability.
In addition to MIL-STD-810, this test is carried out in alignment with international climatic testing standards and represents a key stage in
product certification processes.
Objective Goal
- Measure the resistance of military and industrial products to icing, snow, and freezing conditions.
- Evaluate whether functionality, reliability, and mechanical integrity are maintained under freezing rain exposure and ice loads.
Test Scope Scope
- Exposure to icing, snow, and freezing conditions.
- Evaluation under freezing rain exposure and ice accretion loads.
Technical Implementation Process
- During the test, the product is exposed to icing and frost effects under controlled climatic conditions.
- Determine whether ice formation on the surface may cause performance loss in electronic systems, blockage in mechanical parts, or structural damage.
- In addition to MIL-STD-810, the test is conducted in alignment with international climatic testing standards and forms a key stage in product certification processes.
Application Areas Use
- Military platforms, aerospace systems, ground vehicles, communication equipment, and outdoor applications.
- Applied to ensure safe operation of products in extremely cold and icy environmental conditions.
This test is performed in alignment with MIL-STD-810 as well as international climatic testing standards, and represents an important stage in certification processes.
