DUST-SAND TEST
TURKAK Accredited Testing and Verification
STEST is accredited by the Turkish Accreditation Institution (TURKAK) and carries out its testing and verification activities in an independent, competent, and impartial manner in compliance with national and international standards.
Dust and Sand Test
The Dust and Sand Test is conducted to evaluate a product’s resistance to dusty, sandy, or particle-laden environments. This test is of critical importance particularly for defense, aerospace, automotive, and outdoor equipment applications.
Objective Goal
- Measure the effects of dust and sand particles on mechanical assemblies, electronic components, and surfaces.
- Verify sealing and insulation performance.
- Assess product reliability under prolonged dusty environment conditions.
Test Scope Scope
- Exposure scenarios in dusty, sandy, and particle-laden environmental conditions.
- Evaluation of impacts on mechanical parts, electronic components, and surface/coating performance.
- Verification related to sealing and insulation performance.
Technical Implementation Process
- Dust and sand tests are performed in accordance with national and international standards such as MIL-STD-810, RTCA DO-160, IEC, ISO, EN, ETSI, ASTM, and similar.
- To enable functional testing during exposure, all specimen interfaces (communications, power cables, etc.) are routed to the laboratory environment via hermetic ports of the dust/sand test setup.
- In this way, the product is tested with a highly accurate simulation of real dust and sand conditions.
Application Areas Use
- Defense applications and military systems
- Aerospace and outdoor-deployed electronic equipment
- Automotive components and outdoor/industrial equipment
At STEST, we perform Dust and Sand tests within the scope of MIL-STD-810, RTCA DO-160G, and AECTP-300 using controlled test setups, providing resistance verification and detailed reporting.
